A sea lion was spotted on the coast of the La Plata River in Buenos Aires. The animal, in good health, returned to the water on its own after drawing public attention.


Sea Lion Appears in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, December 25 (NA) – A sea lion appeared on the coast of the La Plata River in the Vicente López district of Buenos Aires Province and returned to the water on its own. The animal, which belongs to the Otaria flavescens species, entered the area and drew the attention of people present at the scene, according to the Argentine News Agency. Following the sea lion's appearance, local police, the Argentine Naval Prefecture, and Civil Defense cordoned off the scene to rescue the animal, which was in good health and uninjured. However, the mammal returned to the river of its own accord and swam near the North Coastline (Costanera Norte).
